On the site of a lone mango tree atop a hill in St. Croix now sits an architectural gem of a getaway that has become a gathering spot for a family who loves to entertain. George C. Ashley Jr., principal of George Ashley Architect & Associates, in St. Croix, and of Network Architects, in New York, Utah, Idaho, and St. Croix, had the pleasure of creating the glorious refuge for his clients. The home is now known as Mango Hill, says Ashley, who describes the architecture as the blending of West Indian and Southern Plantation great-house style. As the architect explains, St. Croix was a major producer of sugar and rum, so the plantations always had great houses for the owners, which were typically the most grand on the plantation.  Read more…
