#36 Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

Designed to depict a turn of the century family farm, the farmstead has nearly 200 animals, a one-room school , ponds, farm gardens, pony rides, and more. It was started in 1978 on 12 acers as a children’s farmstead and renamed in 1985 to honor the first female police officer in Overland Park to be killed in the line of duty. Deanna wanted children to experience in the city what children on the farm experienced. Bring the farm to the children! Here a child can fed a goat, milk a cow and take a ride on a wagon drawn by horses. It is open daily from April 1 to Oct. 31 from 9-5 . In the summer, it is open til 8 on Tuesday and Thursday. There is an admission charged. Our grandchildren loved the day.
