#21 Stagecoach Stop & Farm
August 30, 2010
A certified site on the Santa Fe National Historic Trail, this stone farmhouse was outfitted to serve travelers and stagecoach passengers as they traveled west on the Santa Fe Trail. The year was 1857 when James and Lucinda Mahaffie first arrived in Olathe, the new settlement on the westward trail. At the Mahaffie Farmstead, you’ll discover life as it was over 150 years ago. See how chores were done, visit the blacksmith shop, ride a real stagecoach and explore a prairie schooner packed for the Oregon Trail. Activities vary with the season. Visit www.mahaffie.org for up-to-date information and directions.
